Why is My Furnace Leaking?

Have you noticed your furnace leaking recently? Stop this issue before it becomes a significant fix!  When your furnace is leaking water, it can cause mold to grow. It can cause clogging. It can cause irreversible damage to your expensive furnace system.

THERE COULD BE A CLOG IN YOUR CONDENSATION DRAIN

When your drain is clogged up, the excess water has nowhere to run. If this happens, the drain will fill up and leak onto the condenser pipe. This will cause it to overflow. Your drain is connected to the ground where it can empty itself. In a lot of cases, high-efficiency gas furnaces have this problem.  The less efficient furnace with a metal dispense pipe should never be leaking. If it does begin to leak liquid out from the metal pipe, it could indicate you have the wrong size pipe. This means it will travel back up into the furnace and leak out.

BROKEN SECONDARY HEAT EXCHANGER

If your heat exchanger breaks, it could cause grave problems. It could destroy your unit. If that happens, a professional will need to take a look at it. Finally, this could leave you needing to buy a new system.

HAVING A FURNACE HUMIDIFIER

The main issue with having a leak in your humidifier is that it will leak into your furnace. It’s harder to have this problem when you get a tune-up with us because the system gets inspected. A leak this big could produce a lot more damage.

INTERNAL SYSTEM CLOG

An internal system clog is more for the homes that have their air conditioning unit and furnace drain united. If the pipe is already clogged from your furnace, you will have the same issue when you go to turn your furnace unit on.
